May 2022 marked our ninth anniversary of the opening of the Museum. The Museum is located at 300 E. Jim Leeds Road in Galloway Township. We are open almost every Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm except for holiday weekends. We have hundreds of historic artifacts, documents, and a vast collection of photographs and maps.
Galloway has an interesting historic past dating back before 1716 when Kings Highway was constructed along an Indian trail now known as Old New York Road. Before 1774 the place now called Galloway was numerous small villages and hamlets in Gloucester County, inland of Absecum Beach in the Province of West New Jersey.
Galloway Township was formed by a royal charter by King George III in 1774. Galloway was originally part of Egg Harbor in Gloucester County. The township was much larger than it is today. Galloway Township once included Absecon, Brigantine, part of Atlantic City, Port Republic, Mullica, Hammonton, Egg Harbor City, and a portion of Burlington County.
